Capo App Reviews

Nice, but room for improvement

Helps to analyze songs. Beat detection is good for pop music. I mainly use the spectrogram to see which notes are played and then deduce the chords from that. The built-in chord recognition is mostly unusable – that’s just a too heavy task for any AI right now. Also I don’t need any tabs or guitar chords. It would be much better to have the notes written in regular music staff!! Right now I have to pick out each note by hovering over the spectragram part with the mouse – a crappy workflow. Please make this easier by introducing regular music staff! Also I am missing hotkeys.I am used to setting beat and section markers with keyboard shortcuts as the track plays. But in this app you need to mark sections with the mouse – not very practical. Please add keyboard shortcuts for that stuff.

Absturz

Leider ist das Programm ohne Funktion. Stürtzt sofort ab……

Go! Get it!

Great app, and like the others, it is also SuperMegaUltraGroovy! ;) Works as advertised and gives you really accurate results in no time. Instead of surfing to one of those “pain-to-navigate” websites, I used to, I now just drop a song into Capo to get the Chords out. The tabbing feature is also nice and intuitive! And if there are problems, support is always quick and superb! Full recommendation!

Nice App Capo3

I am always looking for Chords on many sites and this tool just help me get the chords. Open the music file in ITunes and bam I get the correct chords to be able to play with my Guitar. 30 bucks is a great deal for this APP.

Underwhelmed

Let me begin by saying that I really wanted like this application. I’ve been playing guitar for many years now and this type of program really piqued my interest but, I feel it didn’t live up to the hype or the price. Often times with moderately difficult songs it would either miss several chord changes, get the chords completely wrong or list the chords in the wrong locations in the song (roughly 2 bars later than the actual chord). Even with songs that only had a vocal and a guitar these issues were clear to see and, unfortunately, it wasn’t simply marking, for example, C# where it should have been C#m; it was more along the lines of marking a C# where it should have been an Em7. I can’t give this application the rating I really wanted it to earn but I will be keeping my eye on it in hopes of future improvements!

nul …...

pas vraiment short !!!

Not worth it

This app has a good idea and a poor product. You are better off searching for the tab online, much easier, the timing is off, the chords are incorrect, and just over all disappointing. Not worth $30, maybe $1.99

transposing not working after update

Love this app except it will no longer transpose chords on capo placement. Hope you guys fix it soon...

I’ll be thrilled when:

- I can view my position in a song as Time and not just Bar/Beat. This was available in Capo 2. Why remove such a standard/obvious feature?! If you’re listening to a song in iTunes or on a CD player for example and you ask “hmm, what’s that riff at 2:12?”, you can’t just go to 2:12 in Capo, you have to scrub around until you locate it. O_o - I can import my own guitar tunings. The included selections are sparse if you’re a fingerstyle player. At the very least give us a way to make note of the tuning if it isn’t in Capo’s list. - I can add customizable shuttle controls next to the Rewind/Play/FForward buttons. “Jump To Next Region” shouldn’t be restricted to a key command - There’s room!

NEED TIME DISPLAY

I have used a previous version of this app for years. Now that I bought the new one, I can’t believe it won’t give me a time display. The bars and beat stuff is wrong most of the time, useless. Please change this!!!

My #1 App!

I love this program. It is so much easier to learn new songs now. It is fairly accurate in finding the chords within the song and editing is easy when it`s not. It`s great having the chord charts scrolling across the screen in time with the music. Changing keys is unbelivably quick. I use the speed function a lot too. I like having the capo option that changes the key according to what fret you are capoing on. This is an extremely practical app for real world musicians. It`s well worth the bit of money it costs to get it. Please note that when you see poor reviews of this, which I have read, that it is because they have not become fluid with working in the program. Yes, you will have to do some edits, as in choosing more appropriate chords at times and moving the chords around a bit. I have used this program for several months now and I would be lost without it. I`m done with trying to work with chord charts off the internet that seem to have been transcribed by true amateurs. If you want super accurate transcriptions without editing, I suggest you buy Guitar Pro, but your song choice will be limited. CAPO is indispensable to me now. As time goes on, this program will only get better and I am grateful to the programmers who developed this. It rocks.

Nice for practising.

I like this program. Sometimes the chords might be wrong, but it is still a very useful program for practising. It is one the programs I use every day. I look forward to future versions. It can only get better.

Awesome app!

Really, really helps with deciphering song, for all sorts of instruments. Only drawback right now is that it’s broken on OS X Yosemite...

Great app, great support!

Import a song from anywhere and in 10 seconds you’ll have a fairly accurate idea of the chords-tempo-pitch. Then comes the fun part: tweaking (tuning, capo, tempo, key..), dividing in regions and a very detailed graphic spectrum (note by note analysis). Not enogh? Support solved a problem I had with iCloud sync..on a Sunday!!

Not a magic bullet - but VERY good for what I need

It’s not uncommon for me to get songs and have to learn them in a day or two. Capo gets me on the right track quickly and that’s exactly what I need. I get audio of a song to learn along with a target key and Capo lets me immediately transpose and get to work. For me - the program is a guide, not a magic bullet - and I’m totally OK with that. My ears will always have the final say. As for features: I really like the fact it’s now doing some tempo analysis and automatic chord detection. My initial experience with voice reduction was that it wasn’t as useful as I’d hoped, but the EQ feature provides a good way to draw out particular sections of a song. Documentation still says you can add markers to a song - but that functionality has apparently been removed. I REALLY miss that in this version and hope it returns soon. I wish I could be a little more fine-grained when setting playback speed. Sometime 1x is too fast and 3/4 is to slow. I’d really like to be able to set that percentage myself - gradually increasing as I go. Overall though, my concerns are relatively minor. Your mileage may vary, but I dig this software enough to have bought it twice.

Great for learning

I have been using Capo since v2. I love it. I use it to slow down music to learn specific phrases of songs. It has helped me identify errors in tabs that I have downloaded. Additionally, my band uses it to shift pitch down to our singer’s range. It is a great tool all around and I highly recommend it.

If you care about the automatic transcription you might be disappointed

If you already transcribing your own music, there may be something here to you. If you are thinking about buying this program with the thought that you’ll never need to buy tab again, you will be disappointed. I’ve tried 5 songs, 1 got the main chords and the transcriptions for the other 4 were off significantly. The one that actually worked is an easy song to transcribe (Same Boy You’ve Always Known). The other 4 were somewhat harder and 3 were acoustic. The acoustic ones seemed the worst of the bunch - the chords just didn’t reflect anything I was hearing. I also found trouble with features that just didn’t work. Select all and delete? Select all and delete to get rid of those pesky incorrect chords? Just doesn’t work. Should I put in a bug report? Probably. With so few things that are worthwhile, I think I’ll just delete the program and weap over my lost pennies.

rip-off

very good, but a TOTAL rip-off. This app should of been $0.99.

Save your money!

Do not waste your money! I am a musician and the chords in three songs that I tried, were completely wrong. Not even an easy Beatles tune was correct. Its a complete rip-off!!

Fail on OS 10.8.5

Says it works on 10.8 and above but does not work on 10.8.5. Screen re-draw is all over the place. Currently only displays junk.
